This Weekend, The Whole Earth Festival

The Annual Whole Earth Festival in Davis, Ca, to me, is the beginning of the music festival season. It is the first stop of a distinctly Northern California summer of fun that ends in September with the epic huge San Fransisco Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Not much goin' on here, just four stages of music, arts and crafts, free massages, stuffs for the kids, the awesome Rock Med (in case you rock out too much) and my favorite part, the drum circle. If that is not wicked cool, then I don't know what is.

I heart the dancing that the different stages and the drum circle offer. I swear every year I fall in love over and over at the drum circle. It is soooooo good. It is an opportunity to be in the sun, mix and mingle with peeps, listen to (rare) music, funky ethnic music, throw the good 'ol frisbee (many at the same time, which is really fun), get your face painted, blow bubbles, hula hoop, ride a weird bike that some dude made, play a percussion instrument from a different country, get your spiritual on, eat veggie and vegan foods from diff countries (and some straight up made up stuff-Korean veggie tacos. OK), check out the Karma Domes, and when night falls...get yer rave on.

OK here it comes...Atheist, I heart you and I do care about you. We are on the same team, that's Team Atheist, Team Skeptic, Team Baddass Rational Peep. Currently the article Why Do Americans Still Dislike (Hate) Atheists is making the rounds. Folks we are the underdogs, we are the minority. That is why it is so important to get out there, get away from the computer and go outside. You don't have to do what I do, the concerts, the music and everything that goes with that, ya know, the lifestyle. Whatever it is that you have an intrest in, there are others. You have peeps. One way we can disspell the myths of atheism and atheist is by getting out there and proving "them" wrong.

I can't do it by myself and I don't want to do it by myself.  I need your help. Do this thing, man. We can help eachother. You can do something for me, dontcha like me, I like you. What about that good 'ol reciprocal altruism? We are not all 'loners' and those that choose to be solitary-you are not alone. C'mon now, afterall...we are on the same team.

* I know that I don't have to say this, but....I won't be wearing a shirt.
