The David Mabus Petition

David Mabus (if that is your real name) spotted at an atheist convention.

I do not sign online petitions...until this one. Christian terrorist in the making and all around pain in the arse, David Mabus (Dennis Markuze) has been giving super violent death threats to many, many peeps in the atheist bologsphere: Pharyngula and Debunking Christianity to name two. If I had a nickel for every article by Team Atheist about this guy, I'd probably have close to three dollars. It does hurt my feelings, tho, that I have never been his target (what am I small potatoes). Here is a sample of his work from PZ's blog...

So a nice peep named Kyle VanderrBeek made this petition and we should all sign it. No one needs to go to their blog and see death treats. What is missing from his work above is all the bible passages and Youtube video links (that show how atheism is wrong and we are a-gonna die). Unfortunately, the local Montreal police cannot do anything about it (I don't really know why, tho) and that is why we should all sign this.

Hi, I'm the Norway killer.

There is a human element to all of this, also. Obviously this guy needs help. I have also read many article that (while still frustrated) said that he is in need of some good 'ol mental heath, err, stuffs. Any who...just sign it.

* I goggled him and said something like death treats, Christian terrorist, or something and this came up. Really, there is so much info on this dude and it's all bad.

Update Wed, 10th. PZ wrote this. A while back PZ reprinted some of his hate mail from dude and it was pretty funny, as funny as death threats can be. But now, I really do fear that something bad will happen. It would be a shame if dude became the next Norway, or Arizona killer. It's kinda scary.

The Profits of the Prophets

Fear not heathens, just because Harold Campings prediction of the end of times did not come true doesn't mean that many people are still pilfering  from the fear that the Great Surveillance Camera in the Sky will send his son to pick up a very small portion of the population...and then kill everyone else. There is a book called "Profit Guide to the End of Times." Or howz about a radio show, esp. since Camaping no longer has his, "The Watchman Radio Hour." Speaking of books there is the old standard Tim LaHaye and his 16 judgement day books and the best seller "Left Behind" which has sold a whopping 63 million. If that is not your boat then how about some end of times erotica. Really. "Apocalypse Sex: Love at the End of the World" where the characters stare down the end by...having great sex.

Oops, I Made A Mistake

What if we armed ourselves and did training maneuvers...that would be wrong also. 

OK, I have to admit that I was wrong (1) about the Norway killer dude. I called him a Christian terrorist but he is really a terrorist that just said he is a Christian. C'mon now atheists, we can't have it both ways (even tho sometimes I would like that). When believers say that Pol Pot was an atheist mass murder, we retort with "yes he was a mass murder, but his atheism did not motivate him to do that," and that is correct. P P was a mass murder that happened to be an atheist. Well the same thingy goes for the Norway killer dude. He is a mass murder that happens  to be Christian, and after reading a little, it seems that he is not a mass murderer because he is Christian.

CNN Belief Blog has a pretty good article on this as well as the super powerful and awesome Left Hemispheres. I think we made the same mistake with the Arizona Shooter. Team Atheist immediately jumped on the slightest suggestion that dude was a crazy believer...as it turned out, he was just crazy.

There are real threats out there like the group pictured above called Hutaree and Repent Amarillo and WBC. The real threat is evangelical colleges that teach evangelical science. when those peeps go out into the real world they become politicians like "Crazy Eyes" and they try to get their beliefs injected into valid disciplines like history and science.

The Norway killer dude is not a Christian terrorist, he is just a terrorist. And that  believers and nonbelievers is something we all must be wary of. Take care our yourselves, yo.

(1) Way back in the early 90's I made a mistake. But then it turned out I was correct after all. So I don't know if I've been wrong twice or once (that is a super long way for a lame attempt at a joke. le sigh).

Update 7:44 OK, this article says he is a Christian terrorist. I'm still not convinced tho. I'm avoiding reading the manifesto myself (I don't want to read all that shit). Whatever.
