After The Stupid Bowl & MIA Can Sleep On My Couch Anytime

Well I hope everyone survived America's National Holiday, the Super Bowl. If you call in sick today, no manger worth their salt will believe you. Just tell the truth.."I drank too much yesterday." And I guess that makes the Monday after the Bowl..the unofficial day off for this football nation.

Remember this controversial video that the Pope didn't like. Me either.
The game was good, even tho my Niner's were not in it. You really can't ask for anything better than last team with the ball wins, except for when they don't win, and...except the lame commercials. I'm a fan of good Super Bowl commercials. Unfortunately, this years batch was dookie.

First of all many were super sexist. Danika looks incredibly uncomfortable as a sex symbol. I had more respect for her when she was a pro race car driver. I forget the other one, but was that an advertisement for hookers-sure does seem like it.

Was' up with the Dorito's cat killin' commercial. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that cat murder is never right. Just sayin'.

"Bro-dude, it's me bro-dog, I murdered the cat. Choose me over your pretty lady, thanks."
I did like the commercial with all, and I do mean all, the cartoon characters: Voltron, Scooby Doo, He Man, Looney Tunes. I'll just say it...I thought it was quite touching and I don't care that teams of advertising types specifically geared the content of that commercial to people around my age.

I also like the Star Wars commercial, but just the second part ( and I'm willing to over look that Star Wars was before right now and they wouldn't have been watching the Super Bowl in the bar.).

I guess my girl MIA flipped everyone the bird during the halftime show. I don't care, just call me, girl, the next time you come to Sac Town, you can sleep on my couch if ya want (wink wink).

I didn't see the Clint Eastwood one. the M&M's one was stupid. The Vampire was was sorta cool and lastly, the baby slingshot one is wrong. Just like cat murder is no beuno, neither is abusing babies.

Oh wait, I have more. I also like the Mayan 2012 one and the best part of it was at the end when it went all biblical with the raining of frogs.

That's kinda epic.

This was by far the best commercial. Grape Ape, Grape Ape.
Update: The always good and mighty Mo Jo on the stupid-head sexist Super Bowl commercials. Really, why does sexism halfta come into play. those highly paid advertising people can't come up with something goo that is not sexist. Otherwise, I do believe that this particular SB had a heavy and pretty positive female influence.

* Here's a pretty good place to watch most of the commercials.

* Hey I forgot another thingy. there were two commercials where the bro-dude chose his dog over his pretty lady that puts up with his shit. Doritos and Mayan. I like animals, but I'd chose my pretty lady over them. Just sayin'.

* OK, one more one more thing. I do wanna buy me some of those David Beckham, ugh, underwear. Promise when I do it will be my new avatar of twitter, FB and of course, here.

The Sun That Wasn't there

OK here's one that I have never thunk of. Thank god for all the cool and super smart atheist out there like John at Debunking Christianity and the very youthful looking Richard "freekin." Carrier. With the recent demise of my hero, Christopher Hitchens, it is my hope that these two become more prominent in the battles to debunk Christianity and for secular society.

In the gospel(s) of Matt, Luke and Mark they talk about how after dudes crucifixion "there was darkness over the whole world from the sixth hour until the ninth." This "eclipse" of the sun is supposed to be all powerful-n-stuff and a message to humans "hey, y'all fucked up and killed my son." Or as the gospels say "...for the sun stopped shining." This is where beautiful science comes into play.

It is impossible for a black out of the sun for that long. This is the part I have never thought of. We have seen many eclipses, but never one for that long. They usually last a couple of minutes, right. A multi hour eclipse in unheard of and, I'm no biologist and all but, wouldn't a three hour eclipse, like, destroy da erffs and all life on it (yes). The bible claims the sun was blacked out over the whole earth, but that is impossible because, ya know, the earth rotates and it would be impossible for that to happen. Lastly, there were hella astrology types back in the day with hella records-n-stuff, so wouldn't one of them, at least of of them have recorded the fact that the entire earth was blacked out for three whole hours.

I think so, unless of course, it didn't happen.

Goodbye To The Hippest Trip In The West

I often times make the joke, "I'm a redneck" because I was (mostly) raised in the country; red barn, farm animals, huge garden with corn 6ft tall, the whole nine yards. The other side of that joke is "I'm also black." Well, not really, but I'm down with the brothers and sisters, that is fo sho. Recently "The hippest trip in the West", Don "freekin" Cornelius, passed away. It is still early, but it looks like suicide.

What can I say and how can I say it...When we were in the country the only radio station we could get (or listened to) was KFRC in SF. We referred to it as the white station. On TV, I think it was Saturday morning, we watched American Bandstand. It was the white dance party. But...there is always a but, but when we went to visit grandma in South SF everything changed.

All of a sudden different radio stations with different, more funky and groovy music could be picked up. Instead of American Bandstand on the weekend morning, all of a sudden there was Soul Train. In comparison, Soul Train was funky and nasty. American Bandstand was good, but compared to Soul Train, it was conservative, buttoned up and, I'll just say it...white. The dancing on Soul Train was tooooottttaaaallllyyyyy different than the dancing (and music) on American Bandstand.

I come from two worlds. I'm Filipino and I'm American. I'm part of the "accepted", conservative Asian culture, but I'm counter culture to the bone. Yea, I was raised in the country and went to live animal auctions where the dudes would go all "do I hear fifty-five, fifty five, going once, twice, oh lady up top calls, sixty, do I hear sixty-five, going once twice...sold to the lady up top." But there were also many a weekend when we would go visit grandma in the City and me and my cousins would watch the "black dance show", with their super funky outfits and hair, the looser and groovier music and yes, my main man, the man with the deep baritone voice that would always say...

"The hippest trip in the West, Soul Train."

RIP Don and thanks for the memories.

All Hail The King, Or Not

I'll start off with a joke (and after yesterday, I need it)...What is Bishops Eddie Long's porn name...Eddie Long (rimshot).

"This scroll gives me the power to fuck boys with no recourse-n-shit."
Contrary to simple minded belief, most atheists don't hate religion, in fact we find religion very fascinating, like mythology and folklore, that is one of the reasons why we study it so much. Then again, I guess it depends on what religion we are talking about. If we are talking about do good religion that is unselfish, a religion where some kinda higher power, sumthin' more than humanity, something for mere humans to aspire to for the sake of good and goodness, then I can go for that (I don't believe in that, but it's better than the alternative). If we are talking about the Prosperity Gospel (God wants you to be rich) and the *alleged* boy fucker and abuser of power and trust, the Bishop Eddie Long, then fuck that shit.

I was a gonna take today off, that is until I saw the "promotion" of the Bishop. The Bishop Eddie Long, lawsuits and allegations, divorce and all, has bee promoted to...King. Yes, it's true, the King Eddie Long. I watched the video as long as I could but quite frankly, it was so full of bullshit that my simple atheist/skeptic brain went into overdrive and exploded.

"I out rake you Mr President...I'm the King. Wait hold on..Oh that was Elvis, he said I'm the King, baby."
I've always wonder how one become a pastor, a bishop and now King. Really, these clergy types also have Phd's in front of their names. Did they go to an accredited college and get a Phd. in theology or biblical studies...NO. Someone I know has a Phd. in front of their name (and last time I saw dude, he did not). I suspect that the "degree" was bought, plain and simple. It would be the coolest thing to have a Phd. in science, that would mean that you contributed to the whole of knowledge. You struggled for many years to make a discovery, to uncover something that was unknown at one time and you added to what is known. Phd. in religion...I dunno. To become royalty in religion...deff. not. Any who...

What I did see of the video was that a *scholar* got a 300 y/o scroll and because he presented it to Bishop Long...that makes him King. OoooKkkaaayyyyy. First of all a 300 y/o scroll is not that old considering that Christianity is supposedly 2,000 years old. The presenter make the fallacious pseudoscience claim that "most Jews wouldn't even get this close to an ancient scroll." Ok so what. That doesn't mean squat. He said that usually this (the scroll presentation) is reserved for cities. Dude really made it seem like the promotion of the boy fucker, err, Bishop Eddie Long was ordained by God. WTF. Besides that, it is super super weirdo for four grown men to carry and lift the boy fucker, err, I mean the Bishop, into the air on a thrown with the stupid scroll and a ridiculous hat (what's up with clergy and their super lame hats. yuck).

OK...I'm wandering (my brain power right now is not very powerful). This dude, the King is a multi-millionaire. He has luxury cars, private jets and loads of straight up cash. Look at his suits, they are probably more than a years salary for me. He *settled* with the men that he abused both physically and trust wise, which tells us that he didn't want to go to court for boy fucking. And his wife pretty recently filed for divorce. OK, I do believe in redemption of some sort and forgiveness. I'm not talking about the boy fucker right now...I'm talking about the congregation.

But why would you. You are supposed to be a man of peace. After all, are you not innocent.
Look at how packed his church is. Soooo full of well dressed believers that subscribe to the belief that God wants you to be rich. Have they already forgiven him (because to forgive him is to be closer to God and the closer one is, the more one makes, right). What about the abused men. I have not seen any reports about the well being of the men and in fact the only things that I have read about them is from members of the congregation that claim the men are "gold diggers." Gold diggers, really. I thought they were just people who trusted an authority figure and they were manipulated into having sex from someone they totally trusted...then thrown to the curb.

I wanna say that this is NOT Gods love, but one only hasta study religion for a little bit to admit...This IS Gods love.

Long live the King.

* Article Watch the video and be totally creeped out...I mean totally.

* tooootally crappy and anxious day yesterday. It has been mostly good as of late, but once in a while one crapola day sneaks in there. doing better today...so far.

Leaving The Church Of Caturday Saints

What is that great sayin' we have...if ya want to convert someone, then let them read their "holy book." That's a sayin', right. Well, it looks like that is what the cool Mormon kids are doing (thanks Internetz). Depending on who you ask, there may or may not be a mass Exodus (I couldn't resist) of the young-ins from that old crusty Mormonism. It's true, I read it on the Internet.

So what could these cool kids possibly be reading that turns them away from the one true religion that they were raised in...history. Specifically the history of their religion. So I guess even tho one is raised in the Mormon religion they were unaware that their founder Joseph Smith, err, had hella wives and even going super perv and marrying a...14y/o (weirdo man, how can ya be attracted or stimulated by that. gross). On the Mighty Atheist Blogosphere we always examine how reading any one of the many many Christian bibles can turn one into an atheist, but whatabout those clean cut, bicycle riding Mormons. Sure, why not.

The authorities on Team Joseph Smith claim that there is a lot of "misinformation" out there and that those young-ins I mentioned earlier, are being deceived (thanks Interbutz). Yes, no, maybe...probably not. I think and hope that one only hasta look at the main beliefs of said religion to be able to reject it. Where does the faith come into play.

For Team Joseph Smith, which is also Team Potential President of the United States, one hasta believe and have faith in...this guy found these tablets, only he could decipher them, no one could see them, oh but wait, they freekin' broke, but oh well you just halfta believe me. OoooKkkaaaayyyyyy.

Team Jesus hasta believe that a 1/3 god, man, ghost was essentially sent by his self to...err, to die, and to die for everyone's sins-even if they have not been born yet-but don't trip it's all cool because 1/3 guy is a-coming back, twice, and the second time he comes back he's gonna take the very few people that practiced the correct version of "his" religion, when there are hella impostors out there, to heaven, while his dad-who is at the same time "him"-kills all the remaining people and da erffs. Who doesn't believe THAT.

I feel like I should give more time to Team Joseph Smith. He wanted to be a disgusting swinger, but his 1st first wife said, "fuck you, weirdo," so he divorced her. She also wanted to see these *miraculous* tablets, but dude wouldn't let her see them. What really, you're not gonna let your awesome lady that put's up with you shit see that really cool stuff you found (no respect for the ladies i tell ya). He also used to translated the tablets to her, but with a curtain separating them (she was forbidden from seeing these tablets, I tell ya). I believe that her insisting to see these tablets from god with her refusal to go all polygamy, lead to divorce. Just sayin'.

Sooooo, droves of Mormon youth are leaving the fold. Gee, I can't imagine why.

What this picture again...where did that come from.

The Frontline Of TBFSS

Yea baby, The Battle For Secular Society...this is what I signed up for when I started this blog. It wasn't until the last year or so that I started to share more personal stories and write about funner stuffs. But just because I haven't written about the Crea-tards -n-such doesn't mean that I have forgot about them or that they are not there. In fact, the frontline in the battle for that secular society that WE keep talking about is alive and well.

Chuck must be turning in his grave (his b-day celebration is Feb 12th) because of all the not science activity in the science classroom. There are four states with anti-evolution/science bills up for vote, but the supreme crazy hasta come from New Hampshire bill 1148.

Let's see if I can get this right...Author of the bill believes that evolution is a worldview that includes atheism. Dude believes that the Columbine HS massacre is connected with Hitler and, guess, atheism. Rep. Jeyy Bergevin (R), "I want the full portrait of evolution and the people and the people who came up with the ideas to be presented. It's a worldview and it's Godless. Atheism has been tried in various societies, and they've been pretty criminal domestically and internationally....they don't respect human rights."

And that's just N.H.. Don't forget Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Virginia. The Battle For Secular Society is a-raging right now. Chuck certainly must be turning in his grave.

Bad Dog Science Reporting

Whoa Nelly...am I trying to decipher too much before too little coffee, or am I just bitter or is this really just bad reporting. I'd like to say that I would spank this reporter like I would a "bad dog", but I don't think I would ever do that, mmm, I dunno, anyways...The other day I read something about how bad science reporting is and why/how we should do a better job. Well, I think I found one that could be filed under "better job."

Scientists tinker with mind reading is either totally awesome or I haven't had enuff coffee yet, or I'm a bitter stinky stink-o-stein. First of all that is not what the scientists were doing. To say "mind reading" implies that old fashioned notion of crystal ball shit, or sitting across from someone and telling them what they are thinking. This is hooking stuff up to yer head and reading brain signals and hopefully that will be translated into words.

There is a great diagram and I just looked for it in the paper, but no go Houston. It is so good, a "microphone" is attached to ones head, it "reads" the signal and sends it to a computer, then that can be turned into a voice that reads it back. Soooo good, except it doesn't explain any of the mechanisms that would explain this. It's kinda like the answer of "God" in that it doesn't explain anything. OK, skeptic meter....First thing I thought was how is this program going to filter out daydreaming & meaningless thoughts. Just sayin'.

Dig this, it gets better. The journal PLoS Biology did the science thing and did a study. That's cool right, we like that stuff. Ohhhh, the only thing is that it had a sample size of 15 (that's what it says in the article, I didn't read the actual report, here). This is where the bad reporting comes in.

Besides the obvious problem with sample siz* the author implies, or at least doesn't explain very well, that the study's conclusion means that a mind reading device attached to the head is right around the corner. We see stuff like this all the time like when there is that one report that a gianormous asteroid will hit the erffs...like tomorrow, because one scientist said in one part of one report that it is statistically possible that this particular situation could remotely possibly happen (does that make sense or did I just babble....).

"Bad dog! Bad dog. Put daddies dildo away."
Another example could be when those preliminary trials of something have a positive result, for let's say, the cure for cancer and claim that it is right around the corner (when obviously more studies and trials halfta happen).

And don't forget about the conspiracy wackos. When rogue, fringe (many times not accredited) scientists self publish super crazy work, then you get some reporter fueling the fire to something like...the erffs magnetic poles are gonna shift, on Friday and we are all gonna die. It's kinda extreme, but that is what bad science reporting is.

Look man, I would think it the coolest of coolest things to have a mind reading device. I just think that implying that it is right around the corner, well, it gets my nerdy hopes up high and I don't like disappointment. I dunno maybe it can happen, technology advances in exponential leaps, right (help, I forgot what that is called), but I won't hold my breadth.
