Remember the show Family Ties...I do.

Really, I long for the days when republicans were just normal people that I disagreed with because they only wanted small government and less taxes, and that was that. I dunno when it happened (I think it started in the 70's with Peanut, but it exploded in the 80's with The Gipper) but the republican right has become the party of sayin' "no", anti-awesome clean preppy and good looking homos, war on women folk, pro American colonialism, pro American elitism, and of course pro-surveillance camera in the sky (Gawd). We are far far away from the Young Republicans of the 80's (my best friend at the time was one of those, and so was Michael J. Fox's character on Family Ties). So WTF.

Oh, Mal...

If you thought that God was apolitical, then you probably also thought that God didn't watch football (he hearts the Denver Broncos), and you are wrong on both counts. If you thought that here in the awesome United States of American, that one need not be religious to run for freekin' president, then you are wrong again (just look at the overly religious GOP'rs right now).

The battle to be the one to lose to the super awesome Black Prez in the up coming election is ALLLLLLL about controlling religion (as opposed to the non-controlling, liberal, not literal religion that's OK by me). My loving LGBT friends cannot get married because they, somehow, destroy hetero marriage (but hetero divorce is never talked about) and what is it with old, white, religious dudes that wanna decided what and how women do with their bodies (abortion, health care, contraception). It's really weird.

My best friend in HS was a young republican, but he didnt look like Mallory. He's a dude.

The GOP'rs in the last year or so really really like singing pledges. Remember the Promise Keepers (I call them the Promise rapers) from last decade that promised to submit their women because God said so, and also control their families with an iron hand and called it taking back the family...they signed pledges. Currently there are republican pledges, that one MUST sign to show team loyalty, that not only *promise* no tax increases, but also promise/threaten no porn, no sex outside of marriage, no abortion and no contraception. So much for diversity within the republican right, right. If you don't sign the ridiculous, inhibiting and controlling pledge, then no soup and no party support for you-loser.

Choosing God's side has created the ultimate in polarization, so much so that political compromise is something that happened in the past (and that is a shame) and it doesn't look like it will happen in the near or any future (shame again). Choosing God's party has somehow turned off peoples brains and their ability to think critically. Many on the republican right believe that the super awesome Black Prez is a Mooslem and that because he doesn't subscribe to the elitist ideal of American Exceptionalism...he's not patriotic (c'mon now. If dude doesn't love American, then why does/did he make all the sacrifices to become the President. Really now). It's not lack of thinking..it's no thinking (aka stupidhead).

OM(nonexistent)G, she has the mischievous "I just did something wrong" look...forgive me, I'm cute.

 I'm no history buff, but was not this great country (and I do believe that this is STILL a great country) established from the ashes of a religious revolution. Did not the founders fight and successfully escape from religious tyranny of the Mother Land for the sake of freedom, including religious freedom (yes). What is the difference between our so called enemy of Islam, with their super controlling oppression, and their American counterparts that attempt to do the same thing through legislation, ingloriously called the...American Taliban. Nothing.

How is it that very smart and very good critics here in American can point the finger at other cultures and beliefs, but they refuse to do so upon themselves. Say it isn't so. The Pamela Geller's of the world cry out for justice and freedom from (specific) religious oppression, but their fingers are made of black kettles, rubber-glue and hypocrisy.

I wonder what she looks like right now. I wonder if she's...OK. I'm worried.

Lastly, what is at stake is not just the up coming election or how the republican right (and by default all of America) is perceived throughout the world. It is the world, or if you are an LOL Cat, da erffs. There are many parts to Gawd's party: American Exceptionalism, dominionism, the battle for secular society, err I mean religious liberty, the war to control women's bodies, my awesome LGBT friends and equality and don't ferget...the world economy. But because splinter cells of the Jesus cult, cells that are rampant, infiltrating and operating in all levels of government and private sectors, believe in the End of Times (1), then the entire world as we know it is in jeopardy.

Gawd's party haz no kegs and no life. Say it isn't so.

(1) American Exceptionalism, dominionism and the spreading of a literal interpretation of the bible by uber evangelicals includes the scenario of the End of Times. America supports Israel because in order for Jesus to come back (that is the only way), the chosen people MUST establish their homeland. When that happens, according to prophecy, Jesus will come back to da erffs, take back aprox. 80,000 of the lucky ones that DID choose the correct splinter cell of Christianity (outta so many), they will literally rise into the air (ascension) and go to a place called heaven thus leaving everyone else on da erffs to suffer an incredible suffering for all of eternity-that means forever.

As a teenager, I also thought the mom was hot. The blond fat chick, nooooooo. I'm a jerk, so what.

Stop The Madness

When will the madness end. The battle for secular society and the war on reason are fights that must, absolutely, MUST be won. Fo sho the universe we live in is finite and it will end one day, but dagnabit, we can't let humans, we can't let ourselves accelerate the process. Nature is cruel and cold, biology favors the aggressor and the animal kingdom is viscous...peeps, we are not animals.

Today is the day that Israeli Soldier, Gilad Shalit, has been released from five years of captivity in exchange for 1,000's of Palestinian prisoners of war. Sheez, where do I start on this one. First of all, 'lil old me is not brain-y enuff to tackle the whole Israel/Palestine thang. I'm not a scholar and I'm not a historian. What I'am is human. I'am a human being. I may not know all the politics and the super long history that involves that region, but I do know feelings and emotions, the qualities that all peoples have.

On one of the reports, I believe it was NPR, the reporter talked about how each side is equal and opposite in their reactions. Both sides are jubilant to have their own return home. I'm sure the family and friends of both sides are totally stoked to have their peeps come back. Think about all the mothers. It is really quite touching to think of.

Both sides are also pissed that their 'boys' were imprisoned in the first place. Shalit was in captivity for five years and most of it was spent in solitary confinement. I'm sure that the Palestine prisoners were not treated much better. Both sides basically have committed crimes against humanity. We now call the effects of war PTSD, but it's fucked up, that is what it is. A concern is that with the release of the Palestinian war criminals (or are they freedom fighters, or both simultaneously) is that with their new found freedom, they will choose terrorism over a peaceful life. They have been hurt tremendously and they will seek revenge.

So when will this end, the killings, the madness, the imprisonment, the torture etc...Who will be the first to turn the other cheek. Who will be the first to say "this ends with me, there will be no more violence." All sides have lost loved ones, all sides have heroes and villains. No one is innocent in this one. Who cares who started what first, at this point everyone has blood on their hands. This is why the battle for secular society and the war on reason are so important.

What little I do know about the situation is that they are fighting for land and for a place to call home. Why? Because their ancient bronze age books, the books that were written in times of illiteracy and not scientific understanding, tells them that an invisible sky daddy said it's OK to take someone else's land and property. This sky father has told each side that you are better than them, you can and must rule over them (dominion), or you will face my wrath. I understand that in ancient times religion may have been an effective way to inspire and ultimately control the population. What I don't understand is how evolved humans, intelligent peoples, in 2011 can subscribe to such nonsense, esp when it means hurting other humans.

What is that saying I keep forgetting. What does it take for good people to do horrible horrible things...religion. Stop the madness.

Spring in Palestine

Outta habit I when I write about Israel and Palestine I always write it like this "Israel/Palestine". They are connected. When you talk about one, you halfta talk about the other one-even when you write it. Palestinian President Abbas just returned from the historic and epic New York/United Nations trip to 1,000's of supporters, supporters for a Palestinian state. This stuffs is the definition of super heavy and 'lil 'ol me cannot do it justice...but I will say a little something something.

 This is the example someone gave to me the other day. This someone is not, how should I say it, astute and eloquent in understanding and talking about politics (and I'm certainly not an expert, but I know more than dude). Dude said of Israel/Palestine that it is as if a neighbor moved next door and every year he takes more and more of your backyard. Sort of simple, but yea, I can go for that.

Palestinians have been waiting, negotiating and fighting for a Palestinian state for 60 years (and they certainly are not gonna get it anytime soon), and that is why this recent trip is so important. They are the neighbor that was there first. Their backyard is getting smaller and smaller. Why?

The Israelis (Jews) believe that Palestine's backyard really belongs to them and that they were there first. Why, because of their particular bronze age book says that their particular bronze age God, Abraham, said so. So, like, 60-ish years ago they decided to move back. The thing about that is, now there are people living there and they have been living there for a hella long time-Palestinians.

Que the Christian Zionists. For the longest time I didn't understand why American Christians would be interested in the establishing of a Jewish Homeland. The short of it is that in order for the American Christian end of times scenario to happen, that is JC coming back, the Jews need to have an established homeland. This is because in the American Christian bronze age book, the bible, their God says for the prophecy to become true, these things need to happen. That is why American pours hella money into Israel and is going all apartheid-y on the brown Palestine people.

This is all because of predictions in super old books that were written totally a long time ago. Not only are there people that still believe this, they are people in very powerful positions in this country. The dominionist, the American Execptionalist, they are on the side of Israel; but not because they care about the Jewish people, no the opposite in fact. Part of the super stupid prophecy is that for the American God to win over evil, the world gets destroyed and it gets destroyed after and because of the established Jewish homeland (keep in mind I'm going super general on all this). Who is a dominionist, people in politics, including three that are running for president.

Like I said, I dunno too much about it. It seems that the two state solution is THE solution (no one is gonna move out), tho. The Palestinian Spring has started, but will it grow to be bountiful. Will freedom and liberty, and that democracy that peeps keep talking about, blossom in the Palestinian Spring? I guess we will see.

Glenn Beck, Israel and Armageddon

This holy-est of unions is, well...evil. Unfortunately Glenn Beck is back in the news (that was a very pleasant break, if not too short) because dude is in da da daaa, Israel. So what the heck is a Mormon doing in Israel. Christian Zionism of course.

Basically Christian Zionism is the belief that the formation of an Israeli state is in accordance with biblical prophecy that states when Jewish peeps return to the homeland (Israel) and then all hell breaks loose in the form of world war (and the destruction of the Jewish peeps), then American Christianism can finally start dinner because guess who's coming...Bejebuzz, err, Jesus.

That is correct folks. In order for the man who has been 2,000 years late for dinner (that book says he would return in the writer's lifetime) is a gonna make his second appearance. After that his dad will destroy the world and the lucky Christians that happened to practice the correct Christianity, out of hella Christianities, will literally rise into the air to live in cloudville.

When Armageddon happens we will all wear shorts like this.

It's quite pathetic that the Israeli government's only friend is Glenn Beck and the other American evangelical weirdos. The rest of the world hates them. Their friends, the evangelical American Christians, provide them with a lot of tourism money and even campaign contributions. There are some Israeli peeps that are, like, "no way," while there are some (to my surprise) that say things like "well, we do have a lot in common." Beck has been accused of bigotry and antisemitism by the Anti-Defamation League not once, but twice. So WTF.

Personally I wouldn't want to chill with someone that is only friending me at the moment so they can chill in a place called heaven, without me, and after dudes dad destroys the world. Sarah "The Barracuda" Palin and Michele "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann also believe in this type of end of times scenario. So don't be surprised when on the campaign trail they totally support Israel and perhaps, make a Glenn Beck type trip there.
