Really, if Team Believer wants Team Atheist to stop making fun of their silly beliefs, then as the sayin' goes...stop having silly beliefs. If the GOP desires to NOT be perceived as extreme and foolish, then put a candidate up there that conservatives can support and that liberals would accept as worthy. Butt Juice (Rick) is the opposite of all of those thingies.

Booty Juice this past week went all, the president is not a Christian, referenced Hitler and Nazis (because no matter what side you are on, you can call the other side "Nazi" and that is an automatic insult. Sorta feel sorry for all the good German peeps.) and brought back the most ridiculous of the ridiculous of believers' beliefs...Satan.

Don't forget Satan...you can blame everything on Satan. The Prince of Darkness did it. Beezulbub (did I spell that correctly). Pure Evil did it. In fact, whatever went wrong, everytime, it is Satan. You the human, will never halfta accept the responsibility of your own freekin' actions and always pass the blame,.. but if good happens, then that's God (why, not because of evidence, because that is/was what we're told to believe and never question that, mere human).

We've talked about this before, peeps, but before we called it the presidency and the End of Times Scenario (American Jesus Christianity needs the establishment of Israel for the 2nd coming to happen), but it is still the same formula. Do we want a president that believes in, fuck I dunno how to even say it, he believes in an actual being/entity of some sort, that is pure evil, he can possess you and make you do the wrong. And this being is in direct opposition to your particular sky father, son, ghost combo, that you and your splinter group follows, therefore enemy-ville (because it was interpreted by modern day millionaires that often pray with the president and other politicians when not putting on their show at a mega church-25,000,000-ish)...that means everyone else in the world that does not subscribe to your specific and personal interpretation is going to that hell that the religious spokespeople we keep talking about (Bill!), but before that shit, you are my enemy and I'm gonna send you to hell...American Christian hell, boy!!!! Just kidding, having a little fun. I'm gonna kill you. Anyhoo...

 Me personally...I think "it's" going down this year at that one hot spot...you know what I'm talking about (1). Anywho...What if a super weirdo like Rick "Butt Juice" Santorum become the freekin' next president of the United States. First of all, I'd feel sorry for all the women. Fuck. Secondly...fuck. This last year we saw the evangelical pastor evolve his religion to NOT include hell. Rob Bell's Christianity is without that pesky and uncomfortable, and probably very stinky, hell. Gone, bye-bye, and don't let the door hit ya on the way out. There were some Christian denominations that split from the mainstream group to allow gat marriage and/or female clergy. Statistics show that radical lefty stuffs like contraception, premarital sex and LGBT issues is so "old white man" because the 'church' may be conservative, but the ladies in the congregation know what is up with reality (their bodies, their choice).

Then there are guys like Butt Juice (2). What if this dude won peeps. Imagine that the prob-lib crowd sat this one out claiming that "there is no way that they can win. Those guys are idiots (and that would be a true statement, I'm just sayin'...watch the fuck out.)." People, Butt Juice has brought back Satan. No one ever talks about Satan fucking shit up...it's always God-hurricanes, tornadoes, erff quakes...

Belief in a one third man, ghost, god (Rick's Catholicism) accompanied with the belief in an entity that for better words...is pure evil, PLUS, control over a huge military accompanied with the belief that your specific God made this exact situation for you (dominionism, American exceptionalism), EQUALS...

...It equals we better not let this shit happen. If the GOP had a 'contender' that was sound and reasonable, I would totally give credit and that would be a good thing. Heel, I would celebrate that. The way it is now is it is a race to see who is the best douche-bag to lose in the upcoming election against the awesome Black Prez. Religion has been a part of this thing the whole time (we knew it would be, right. wink wink) and week in week out...it continues to be a part of it.

Praying 24/7

 Oh frackin' joy. It's gonna be a long fuckin' day. Any who...prayer doesn't work, there have been scientific experiments that come to that conclusion, people that pray in public (or private for that matter) look crazy to me, remind me about the "pencil theory" and yes, I'm in a bad mood. But don't tell IHOP that prayer doesn't work (it wouldn't matter anyways-cognitive dissonance much) because then their 24/7 prayer fest will all be for NOT.

At the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, Mo they have been praying 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for a hella long time (Sepr 1999). Pray tell, why (I couldn't resist)? Well, of course to "save business, media and government from evil." Yes, fuckin' EVIL. Yes, we are like four years old...we are going to pray, or as Team Atheist calls it-wishful thinking to your self-because there are evil forces at work in the physical world that we live in (fuckin' stupid and childish, really).

 Yea buddy, 12 years of nonstop praying and/or Jesus-y music (yuck) that to my surprise attracts many people from all over the world: Britain to S. Korea. You would think it would be hard to get peeps to "pray" the early morning shifts, but people change their schedules and make the commitment...what is the commitment again..."push back evil forces that threaten to overwhelm society." From my super smart and intelligent and far superior atheist perspective, the only threat I see is from da da daaa...THEM.

 Wouldn't ya know it, these 24/7 prayer weirdos are associated with the dominionism and the NAR that the atheist blogosphere keeps talking about. That splinter cell of Christianity (and yet very vocal and powerful) whether it's called Charismatic, evangelical, the house on the hill, dookie poo poo, what freekin' ever it's called, wants to take over all parts of secular society. They literally want to infiltrate the government, public schools, universities, every fuckin' thing and inject their particular God to the forefront, front and center in the most prominent way possible.

IHOP was recently involved in that prayer rally for that Texas Governor that was all controversial back in August (it's Rick Perry in case you couldn't guess). I'll say it again and again fellow atheist peeps...This is what we are up against. Does anyone think that IHOP is playing by the rules of a separate church and state-I don't.

Their headquarters is an old mall (and I'm guessing that to buy an entire mall isn't cheap). They also own an entire apartment complex to house the frackin' students and teachers of their frackin' university (bible college) and there are plans to purchase 125 acres so they can build a 100 million dollar church there. WTF, I thought there was a recession/depression goin' on.

IHOP's army of mindless soldiers for Christ take pride in doing what they call the nite shift (11pm-5am). Participants are expected to pray for the equivalent of a part time job (25 hours a week) and 25 bands a week each play 2 hour sets. That is a tremendous amount of effort, week in and week out. So what the frack' are these weirdos praying for.

Founding Pastor Mike Bickle, "It's completely within view right now. If I was a betting man, I'd bet it would happen in the life of two years olds." Of course the pastor is referring to da da daaa...THE END OF THE WORLD. Yes, Rapture, the bad 'ol end of times. That is why they are praying 24/7 week after week. And WTF, where did he get "two year olds". Really, it seems like he pulled that number outta his ass. Any who...

This is the kicker (I know the whole thing has been a kicker). What differentiates IHOP (which btw, is a horrible horrible acronym) from the other loony end of times, religions of peace, is that instead of God destroying the erffs and taking his select and elite and small amount of peeps to cloudville, the saved will remain here on earth.

If that doesn't show that religion is totally made up and fakey fake, then I dunno what does show that....and yes, I'm pissed toady.

 So every Sept 30th for the rest of the existence of time, today will be know as International Blasphemy Rights Day. IBRD came to be because of that Draw Muhammad controversy a couple 'o years back.

Some believers want to inject their belief into the science and history classroom when their mythology is neither scientific or historical. If believers want Genesis to be taught as an equal to evolution thru natural selection, then Genesis must endure and pass the same scrutiny that that discipline requires. Because they are unwilling to do that, no soup for you.

People died because a dude made a cartoon. WTF is that. This is the harm that religion causes and that is why today is sooooo important. Really, it is not about making fun of beliefs, it is about free speech. And in general, it is about....freedom. Angry Atheist 101

We, The Super mighty Team Atheist, often times get asked something to the extent "WTF," "Why do you even care," "Why not just live and let live?" Well kind gentle and very good looking readers, I'll tell ya why...and how. Just like there are two kinds of people, there are two kinds of religion: good and bad, liberal v extreme, symbolic v. literal.

If someone has a liberal belief system and doesn't read the bible as the literal word of God, if someone wants/needs to use the metaphor of a Christ-man-god as something that mere humans can strive to emulate, to better ourselves, as a ladder to reach for God, or as a "something something" to aspire to to reach heights above and beyond humanity (if such a thing even exists), then I'm cool with that. But...

If the person, group or community believes that the bible is the literal word of God and it must be followed no matter what and that belief system preaches and teaches hate of certain other groups (GLBT, women, other religions, no religion etc...), that belief teaches that they must dominate others, then my friend...the shit is on.

There are two very important terms to know, if ya want to be an outraged angry atheist, dominionism and American exceptionalism.

Dominionism is just as it sounds, dominate. Not all Christians are dominionist, but the ones that are, are very powerful and influential. Their mission is to infiltrate every sector of society, public schools, government, military, movie houses, bakery's, every and anything in secular society they want to control it. It is not enuff to share the good news with you, a dominionist wants total control, a total takeover of what should be a secular and religion free public square.

American exceptionalism is the theory that God loves America better than everyone else (really) and that if we become the house on the hill, then God will favor us and shower us with, err...Godly stuffs. Any who, God has chosen America as his favorite and that is why "we" can stick our noses in other countries business, we can invade other countries (to spread Christianity of course) and basically, we can dominate-hence dominionism.

What makes us better than anyone else. An interpretation from that bronze age book that those atheist keep talking about and the revelation that God has spoken and it is "our" duty, our mission to make this so. In reality, those that subscribe to these two terms are no better than their Islamic counterparts that claim Allah wants them to spread and takeover. I haven't seen it in the media lately, but don't forget the American Taliban. Taliban is Taliban is Taliban someone used to say. Religious extremism is bad all the way around, no matter who or what side is practicing it.

GW Bush infamously filled cabinet posts, government positions with evangelical peeps that also believed as he did, that God hearts America better and that it is the American duty to spread that specific form of Christianity. Like I have said many times, they have entire universities, TV and radio stations, they already dominate the landscape; but they want more.

That is angry atheist 101, folks.

Spring in Palestine

Outta habit I when I write about Israel and Palestine I always write it like this "Israel/Palestine". They are connected. When you talk about one, you halfta talk about the other one-even when you write it. Palestinian President Abbas just returned from the historic and epic New York/United Nations trip to 1,000's of supporters, supporters for a Palestinian state. This stuffs is the definition of super heavy and 'lil 'ol me cannot do it justice...but I will say a little something something.

 This is the example someone gave to me the other day. This someone is not, how should I say it, astute and eloquent in understanding and talking about politics (and I'm certainly not an expert, but I know more than dude). Dude said of Israel/Palestine that it is as if a neighbor moved next door and every year he takes more and more of your backyard. Sort of simple, but yea, I can go for that.

Palestinians have been waiting, negotiating and fighting for a Palestinian state for 60 years (and they certainly are not gonna get it anytime soon), and that is why this recent trip is so important. They are the neighbor that was there first. Their backyard is getting smaller and smaller. Why?

The Israelis (Jews) believe that Palestine's backyard really belongs to them and that they were there first. Why, because of their particular bronze age book says that their particular bronze age God, Abraham, said so. So, like, 60-ish years ago they decided to move back. The thing about that is, now there are people living there and they have been living there for a hella long time-Palestinians.

Que the Christian Zionists. For the longest time I didn't understand why American Christians would be interested in the establishing of a Jewish Homeland. The short of it is that in order for the American Christian end of times scenario to happen, that is JC coming back, the Jews need to have an established homeland. This is because in the American Christian bronze age book, the bible, their God says for the prophecy to become true, these things need to happen. That is why American pours hella money into Israel and is going all apartheid-y on the brown Palestine people.

This is all because of predictions in super old books that were written totally a long time ago. Not only are there people that still believe this, they are people in very powerful positions in this country. The dominionist, the American Execptionalist, they are on the side of Israel; but not because they care about the Jewish people, no the opposite in fact. Part of the super stupid prophecy is that for the American God to win over evil, the world gets destroyed and it gets destroyed after and because of the established Jewish homeland (keep in mind I'm going super general on all this). Who is a dominionist, people in politics, including three that are running for president.

Like I said, I dunno too much about it. It seems that the two state solution is THE solution (no one is gonna move out), tho. The Palestinian Spring has started, but will it grow to be bountiful. Will freedom and liberty, and that democracy that peeps keep talking about, blossom in the Palestinian Spring? I guess we will see.

Religion News Roundup For...Today

Wow what a kick arse day for religious news. Team Atheist if you do not go to Religion News Service, Religion Dispatches and CNN Belief Blog you are missing out. Check out all the good fun reading I've done so far this morning.

I never really thought that the Foo Fighters were all that (nothing against them, just not one of my favorites), but I sure do like them a lot more now. Apparently they counter protested everyone's least favorite protesters, Westboro Baptist Church. Appropriately, they played a song called "Hot Buns."

After a million gazillion years the super stupid DADT is fin. As of midnite the armed forces just got a lot cuter, cleaner, patriotic and flamboyant at the same time. I would never join the armed forces (to kill brown people for economic interests), but I sure do appreciate those who do. It takes a special kinda person to answer the call of duty. Congrats to all GLBT in the military and...let's see if change really happens.

Rowan says that atheist are the "new cool thing" and I agree with him. Thanks Rowan.

Team Atheist has know this for years, but now we have scientific evidence that Pat "Leave your wife is she has Alzheimer's" Robertson is mentally ill. Robertson's theological counterparts, that do not agree with him, say that he is an embarrassment." We knew that also.

Here is some blatant self promotion and here are real journalists commenting on the same thing (but really, who's better looking. thanks). Those survey's that Team Goober Nerd Geek Atheist and Skeptic like so much have concluded that many Americans believe that God has a special plan for them, God believes in small government and God controls the economy. Oh God.

This Is What We Are Up Against

OK awesome atheists, Team Atheist and the Mighty New Atheist Summer/Fall Edition 2011...this is what we are up against. Outreach Magazine, ya know that magazine that y'all subscribe to, has come out with a list of the top 100 mega churches. Yippie.

O.M. lists the largest 100 mega churches (and the top 100 fastest growing churches) and Lakewood church came in first place with a whopping weekend attendance of 43,5000. Folks that is a lot of saved souls.

This is a reminder of what a major minority The New Atheists are (did that make sense). Howz about, we are totally in the minority. That's better. Sure we have Skeptics in the Pub (with whopping attendance of some or a little bit), a convention here and there with attendance in the one or two thousand (if that), the Secular Student Alliance in colleges, organizations like American Atheists and FFRF and our local skeptics meeting in scattered towns. But really, we do not have a weekend attendance in the tens of thousands every weekend, much less a top 100 list of mega atheist events (and that is just the top 100. What if it was a list of the top 200 mega something somethings).

I have never been to a church like Lakewood, but I can only imagine what they teach (or do not teach) there.  Off the top of my head, do they teach that women must be submissive to the men folk, that the founding fathers absolutely intended for this to be a Christian nation, that climate change is just a theory (thanks Rick Perry) and that more and more scientists are speaking up against it, that creationism/Intelligent Design is equal to evolution thru natural selection and finally, that Christian peeps have the mission to dominate the world and that their particular Gawd said so.

What do we have? We have those pesky facts that skeptics keep talking about, some would call it the truth. We have passion and the desire to make the world a better and more peaceful place, for everyone regardless of belief or lack of. We have the scientific method and rational thought.

Ya know what I have, kind gentle and very good looking readers, I have the ability to predict and see the future. I see that we are on the correct side of history and that if we keep the nose to the grindstone...we will emerge victorious in our mission for a secular society. Extremist religion(s) will be put in their proper place (which is away) and one day, one day I tell ya...

There will be world peace.

Fallacies Of Conservative Thinking

The conservative faction of this country calls it the lamestream media or the super funny, Jewish owned liberal propaganda machine. I call it awesome sauce, because that is what it is. Is it that NPR has always been this awesome, or am I just now paying attention to it-regardless...awesome sauce.

When lying in bed this morning, I do believe that I heard three news stories that were science-y. Bravo for NPR. That is what the cool kids call killin' it. One article in particular was extra extra good. GOP and Science Skeptics (I paraphrased the title) emphasizes how important knowledge of science will be in the upcoming election, esp on the GOP side.

Recap action...Presidential candidates Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann have said the stupid several times in recent weeks. Perry said global warming has gaps in it, evolution is just a theory, creationism is and should be taught in public schools. Bachmann, or as I heart to call her, Crazy Eyes, well pretty much everything she says is crazy, but the comment about the recent East Coast earthquake and hurricane being caused by God, well, that is just plain crazy. The NPR article correctly states "Bachmann believes something other than physical and biological processes drives events on planet earth. Perry does too."

So we have a choice as voters and as good American peeps. Do we want a GOP candidate that subscribes to that dominionism thingy that everyone keeps talking about. Do we want a president that believes in Armageddon, believes that a 1/3 man, 1/3 god and 1/3 ghost will return to the erffs and literally float into the air with a select few homies. That is just some of their beliefs, what about their thinking, err, their fallacious thinking.

Crazy Eyes made the statement about God causing the natural disasters last week and that it should be a wake up call to worship him and vote for her. But has she said any such statements about Perry's Texas that is currently totally on...fire. Is God punnishing Texas, because Texas is very devout. They brag about having the most churches per capita, and yet they have the highest crime rates, prison population and the state is on fire, litterally on fire. Is God punishing them. I haven't said it in a while but...cherry pickin'.

What about Perry's brilliant thinking. He said that evolution and global warming are theories, not yet proven and that they have holes or gaps in them. OK(?). Well what about genesis. Genesis is not even a theory, it's folklore. The entire thing is a hole. Evolution whomps all over it. Perry said that more and more scientists are questioning global warming. Really, who are these scientist, name them-really. While I can admit that there are fringe scientists that when splitting hairs about the causes of climate change, to say that there is a growing number or even a majority...well, that is a straight up lie.

Science education is going the way of sports and the arts in public schools and that is not a good thing. If American is to remain a force in the global ecomony and the world stage we need to teach real science in public schools, not incorrect biblical science. Japan, India and China are kicking or arses when it comes to science education. If religion is the most important topic for the world in the next decade, then science is a very close second.

Lastly, do we want a president with powers to go to war, invade other countries and the bomb that is not literate in real science and that has a biblical mission, dictated by an all powerful God that does not exist,  to rule the infidels and rule the world. I know I do not.

Guess What...More Religion in the News

The other day I mentioned that religion is the most important topic in the up coming election (and any election for that matter). I pointed out that one just has to scan the newspaper, any newspaper, to see that we are inundated with religion every single day, whether believer or not.  What did I come up with, like, a million gazillion examples from USA Today. Well, let's look at the Mighty SF Chron today.

The Golden State Warriors, Mark Jackson, is a preacher...and he has an epic three page article in SF Gate. So it doesn't matter that dude is a believer, but we always get called out for shoving our atheism down peoples throats, but do we get to complain when that happens to us (and I feel that generally, we are innocent of that charge). So little 'ol me innocently reads the paper in the morning and I have to hear about Pastor Jackson. WTF. I'll also mention that evangelical Christianity has infiltrated the armed forces and all of pro sports. It has to do with that dominionism thingy that everyone has been talking about lately.

Here's a neutral-ish article. A new movie has come out called "Higher Ground." It is based on a book called "This Dark World: A Memoir of Salvation Found and Lost." In both the book and the movie the main character goes on that journey we all have to go thru and she enters and then ultimately leaves evangelical Christianity. The movie has been praised for it's fair and balanced look at religion (and I admit that at times movies about religion can be ugly pants). So that is pretty coolio.

Super weirdo and awesome film maker David "Frackin' awesome" Lynch is...opening a niteclub. OK that is not religious, but he does practice Transcendental Meditation (TM). He credits his bizarre films and the organic-ness of their flow to TM. I used to follow him on Twitter, but his tweets reek of self help crap...great film maker tho.

Prez "The One" Obama correctly asks the court to throw out the super stupid "Don't Ask"suit. Bible based homophobia is so gay. First of all, who the hell wants to join the armed forces to kill other people. They should be welcoming anyone that wants to join their exclusive and violent club. Bible based homophobia is the source of tremendous amounts of manpower and resources. A total waste and all because some people think that their bronze age book told them to think so. Sheez.

And finally...all the religious wars. What is that?  Anytime it is us v. them. Anytime there is one group, err, let's say Islam, and they are intolerant of, I'll just randomly guess, American Christians that want to kill them also. This one is the elephant in the room, but how can we forget this one when so many people are dying.

I would say the big three are sexism, homophobia and war. Pretty much everyday those are topics in the news. Why. Because the bible told peeps that they are better than others, that they must spread their faith and that they don't have to tolerate different views.

The Words Are Too Big and What Is NAR Anyways...

Don't diss the 80's. that was my 60's.

Look, I'm just an average baddass dude with really get hair and a stud body-I'm not superman. So when I'm in over my head, I admit it. I was just trying to read an article over at the super awesome Religion Dispatches called Beyond Alarmism and Denial in the Dominionism Debate, but the words are too big for me. So I had to do some lookie lookie. Here's what I found.

I've talked about dominionism before. Basically it is the followers of the Prince of Peace and the specific type of Protestant denomination (outta a million diff ones) and how they must rule over the erffs, the peeps and everything else-because Gwad said so. Any who, while I was reading the article the acronym NAR kept coming up. So WTF.

RICK PERRY THE RESPONSE (in all captials).

Some how, I'm very foggy on it still, dominionism and the New Apostolic Reformation are both mutually exclusive and independent at the same time. You can be one with out the other, or not. Anyways...It is a movement of Protestants associated with Pentecostal and Charismatic movements. They believe in a direct relationship with Gawd, thru Jesus and and believe in revelation, prophecy and miracles like healing. Presidential candidate Gov. Rick Perry is supported by NAR homies (and that says a lot, right).

De facto leader, C. Peter Wagner engages in "spiritual warfare" and also claims that God acted thru him to end mad cow disease in Germany (crazy much?). The Historical Adam and Eve on NPR

"Hey was' up baby. Is that the, err, spring/summer fig leaf collection.

 Ya know, kind gentle and very goodlooking readers...we are smarter than other people (believers). So I get really happy when the rest of the world catches up to us. This morning on NPR there was an article about the historical Adam and Eve. I'm not shitting you. As everyone on Team Atheist knows the bible is not a historical document. The stories like Exodus are just that, stories. Years ago when I was taking a biology class we figured that it would be impossible for all the genetic diversity in the world to come from just two peeps (there just isn't enuff time).

In Genesis 2:7 The Lord (if that is your real name) made Adam and then Eve (and by being second all her ancestors are doomed to second class status) and from those two crazy kids in that sic arse garden comes: original sin, all of humanity, the reason why JC had to be crucified, the explanation of evil and suffering etc etc etc...Or not.

Dennis Venema, biologist believer guy, "That would be against all the genomic evidence that we've assembled over the last 20 years. He said that, if we work backwards, there is not enuff time to account for the genomic diversity. Mutation rates just don't happen fast enuff. If you go from Adam and Eve to the present two peeps cannot produce the genetic/genomic variation that is present today and visa versa.

What Venema and other conservative Christian scholars want is for their religion to evolve. He, and others, does not want a literal reading of the bible (nor do I). He wants people to approach it not with history in mind, but poetry, prose and storytelling and metaphor and allegory. I can actually go for those things.

Still, there are the really stubborn ones that do not want to change or accept the evidence in front of them (cognitive dissonance much). If Adam and Eve are not historical characters, then why was Jesus crucified. He needed to be crucified to absolve us of our sins.

Little by little society is catching up to the New Atheists/Team Atheist. The Great Flood never happened, the dying rising God is a myth borrowed from cultures predating Christianity and, now the historicy of Adam and Eve is being questioned....and that is what is called progress.

Conversion Therapy, NPR and Tight Shirts

I'm thinking I should change the name of this blog to the Michele "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann Report since I write about her so much; but I don't have a photo of her six pack (which is mandatory avatar action). On NPR Morning Edition this morning the very controversial Conversion Therapy was a topic. It has been in the news a lot lately because Bachmann's husband (I'm not going to give him his own identity) has a clinic where, yes you guessed it, they claim to be able to pray away the gay.

The NPR report interviews two peeps, one that was cured of his gayness (he no longer listens to techno music) and one that, correctly, says that the techniques are harmful. Me I'm-a-gonna take the side of the American Psychological Ass. that states in their official report...

"The longstanding consensus of the behavioral and social sciences and the health and mental health professions is that homosexuality per se is a normal and positive variation of human sexual orientation (Bell, Weinberg & Hammersmith, 1981; Bullough, 1976; Ford & Beach 1951 ; Kinsey, Pomeroy, & Martin, 1948; Kinsey, Pomeroy, Martin, & Gebhard, 1953 ). Homosexuality per se is not a mental disorder (APA, 1975). Since 1974, the American Psychological Association (APA) has opposed stigma, prejudice, discrimination, and violence on the basis of sexual orientation and has taken a leadership role in supporting the equal rights of lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals (APA, 2005)."

You see, I'm not a conservative Christian evangelical right winger. When credible science comes out I accept it. After all just look at how the right are still debating the scopes monkey trial and Roe v. Wade and stem cell research. Pray away the gay, please. Concerning the gentleman that claims that reparative therapy cured him of his gayness, well, obviously, he was never gay...just curious. To say that homosexuality is a choice is saying that people are choosing to be a persecuted minority where mainstream society, wrongly, is abusive to them. It's genetics, homies.

All things being equal, if you can really pray away the gay, then theoretically you can also pray away the hetero. Imagine that peeps. If we prayed aways the hetero there would be world peace, no sexism and the sale of tight shirts (for our muscular, hairless bodies) would go thru the roof. As it is, you cannot pray away the gay, but you can be accepting of someone because...because we are all human and we are all in this together.
