OK, Howz About A Proper Post

Fuckin' "A" man, I suck at this take a brain and blog break. I guess the battle for secular society (while having a few laughs along the way) is more important than me 'recharging.' Any who...

Jesus is back. Yessirie, right on that one. The Prince of Peace is not only back...but he fired an assault rife at the presidents bedroom. Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, a 21 y/o Idaho man says, "It's not just a coincidence that I look like Jesus...I am the modern day Jesus Christ that you all have been waiting for."

Well, that's a relief. I was beginning to run outta patience, ya know, being that dude is two thousand years too late (afterall he did promise "in their lifetime" meaning the apostles). So now that Jesus is back, took a shot at the White House and got arrested what does dude want. He wants to be on Oprah. Check out the vid.

OK, this very brave and lovely lady deserves more attention...and I'm just the guy to give it to her (wink wink). In my previous super short and crapy post that I really and truly gave no effort to, I didn't mention any facts, like, her name is Aliaa Mahdy, 20 y/0, Egyptian feminist, she is protesting Islamic and military rule that oppresses the women folk and I'll say it again, she is very brave.

Go to her site and watch the numbers roll and roll. The last time I went there, she had over 2 million hits and at a rate of one per second. That is a lot of hits. Just goes to show you that sex sells and sex promotes. What is my motto...Go for the six pack, stay for the content. We did not make the reality  that sex sells, we just acknowledge it and use it to promote feminism and a secular society.

Just the other day in the mighty atheist blogosphere there was that article being passed around that suggested that Islamic women cover their eyes. Why, because their freekin' eyes are too tempting and sexual. WTF. Of course nothing is said about a man that has unpure thoughts when viewing those sexy eyes...and that is the problem.

I was gonna take a blog break, but these two stories were just too awesome to pass up.

News Roundup On Follow Atheist Friday

Why is it that when Team Atheist is in the news...it is always a bad negative thing. Oh well, any publicity is good publicity, right(?). Any who, Elevatorgate was the feature article in my favorite religion news aggregator, Religion News Service. The awesome sauce thingy about elevatrogate is that as a community, Team Atheist did address sexism and we are game to combat it within our own ranks. We need the ladies so much in the sciences, in the atheist blogosphere and in skepticism movements. BTW, RNS has a pretty fair amount of ladies writers reporting the news, so bully for them. Check it out.

Yesterday I wrote about how Islamophobia is being taught to the F.B.I., the armed forces and law enforcement. Today the F.B.I. has announced that it is dropping those programs (should never have happened in the first place). Check out yesterdays posts there are good links to Mother Jones and Slate. For those keeping track of the Christians that want to take over the world, known as dominionist, there is lot's of info for your score cards.

So, it is totally bad for authorities to teach Islamophobia and it is also super bad and wrong for uneducated and super stupid citizens to go old school and try their hand at vigilante violence. 9/11 is also the anniversary of stupid heads that attacked a peaceful Sikh dude because they thought he was...Muslim. So frackin' stupid, but I geuss that is what bigotry is-stupid. It is like when a loser calls me a 'chink' or a 'Jap' when I'm 100% brown hunky Filipino. At least get it right.

In the City by the Bay, the city that brought us OJ Simpson and your truly, 2,000 dirty stinky unimmunized kids were sent home from school because they did not receive the whooping cough vaccine. Gee I wonder if the deadbeat parents subscribe to the Jenny "I've killed many kids" McCarthey's philosophy of vaccines are bad bad bad, or are they not versed in the understanding of science, medicine (hello, herd mentality), or is it...all of the above. Regardless, keep your dirty stinky not-immunized kids away from me. I don't want to die of a disease that is easily preventable. Really.

Keeping with the pseudoscience-y stuffs...Dr. Oz, the multimillionaire that thrives off of selling bogus products with no medicinal value to people that really need help, has been called out for yelling "fire in a crowded theatre." Oz said that apple juice has too much arsenic in it and is hazardous to children. Basically the test he used was for something else (wastewater) therefore the results are no good, arsenic occurs naturally in lot's o' things, like, water, and I don't know this fo sho, but dude is probably selling the cure to apple juice arsenic (phobia) poisoning. Dude, scam much. Sheez.

I don't have too much info on this one, but my skeptic meter is going off. Authorities report that a young boy has emerged from the woods in Germany...speaking English. I don't know if this is a case of mysteriously speaking a foreign  language (skeptics dictionary) or an Ishi thing. I just know it sounds fishy and is a job for Team Skeptic.

Lastly, Christians at Vanderbilt U infiltrated a frat party with hidden microphones demanding that they repent.

Really, honestly, I'm not attracted to stupidity. I don't care what the 'packaging' is. Awesome, sweetheart, atheist, skeptic lady, that is totally smart-n-stuffs...I'm still waiting and still available (and I don't care what the 'packaging' looks like. I way better than that. Bro-Dudes Last Stand

The last time I viewed an Intelligence Squared Debate was, like, over a year ago and AC "The Hair" Grayling and Richard "Papa Bear" Dawkins whomped all over a team of believers (I forgot what the specific topic was. Any who...). Slate magazine, on Sept 20, will sponsor an Intelligence Squared Debate and this time the topic will be "Are men finished." Y'all know that I heart heart heart the Maureen "Heyyyy, awesome lady" Dowd book "Are Men Necessary,"and it seems that this debate will continue the not oft talked about topic...the demise of men.

First of all, I'm a dude and fo sho I believe that I'am necessary, and for a variety of reasons. And ya know what, it is not necessarily about being 'necessary', it is about the changing role of the bro-dude. Thank goodness the ladies have come a long way, but in that time the bro-dudes, the men folk, have not. I'm not talking about how men used to get 9-10 jobs or 10-10 jobs back in the day and now they are getting 7-10 or 8-10 jobs...It is about the evolving role of men and men evolving as complete human beings.

One of the factors journalist and debater, Hanna Rosin, shows the reader is... da da daaa, the sitcom. Really. I don't have a TV or watch it, but apparently the new crop of fall shows fall into two categories, 1) the dysfunctional, lame, not evolved, bro-dude that is unemployed, or the 2) hard working late 20 something female that is making it in the world, working ten jobs, having a social life and being strong and feminine at the same time (helllloooo). To say that that this is a reflection of the reality of modern society is....true.

Lions, tigers and bears oh my...Is that a Jesus fish in the background, or pareidolia.

For the first time in history the women folk are more than 50% of the work force. There is some statistic out there that, once again, those awesome hard working ladies are getting college degrees at a rate of two to one compared to the men. Men make up most of the prison population and women hold families together. Women are more geared to the modern way and global economy with their superior communication skills and altruism, while men compete for factory, industry and hard labor jobs that are drying up and associated with the old economy. Just in the past 40-50 years women have evolved and shaped society, while men have been stiff and ridged and clamour of the 1950's lifestyle that may or may not have ever existed (or not evolved): complete with sexism, machismo and housewife made sandwiches.

In Oh Maureen...O, Maureen's book AMN she jokes around about artificial insemination and how in the very near future, perhaps, women will not even need men. I'll tell you this bro-dudes, we have to do more and better. The rough tough macho father husband of out fathers generation (I'm 42 mind you) is a throwback to shittier times. The world is a different place and a better place now. So we have to make our own sandwiches and do actual communicating with our g-friends (where back in the old days that was nonexistent) and show emotions and be, get this...humans, complete humans. So what. It is either that, which I think is very cool-ya know that evolving thing-or we become...not necessary.

I choose to evolve.

I Googled 'female atheist bloggers' and this is the first pic to come up. WTF.

I just updated my Twitter list of female atheist bloggers and you should follow it. The atheist blogesphere is mighty and awesome, in fact it is a mighty awesome place. The thingy about it is...it is male dominated just like any other endeavor in the wide wide world. That is why you should follow my list, or create your own. Let's get right down to it.

OK, I forgot who EmptyIdentiy is, but you should check her out. Really good digital art. And of course, she is on Team Atheist. Awesome.

GodlessNurse is awesome and she is close to my age (what can I say, I'm single). Nursing is a tuff job:underpaid and under appreciated, and she is an atheist.

BlondNonbeliever is my favorite new grrl on the block and I'm jealous...She lives on the beach (Dammmmm grrl, can I come over). Also, I have recently achieved aprox 74,000 hits on my blog and she recently achieved 250,000. Me, no I'm not jealous (congrats buddy).

Apparently, Heather Henderson is made of awesome because she has two cool sites to go to. Heather Henderson is awesome and Dissident Radio.com ask's "Are you an ardent atheist?" Check it out, yo.

Sowz there it is tweeps and peeps, an updated list of female atheist bloggers, fer now. The thingy about it is that....the atheist blogesphere, just like any and all endeavors, is all male dominate-y. When we get a chance to promote the ladies, we should take it. There has been much ado, lately, about everyone's roles in the movement and stuffs like that and I agree...What about the ladies.?

We need to push sexism to the side and fergitabbutit. The ladies are on our team and that is Team Atheist. They are our sisters and our cousins, mothers and aunts. The rest of society is all oppress-y on them and dagnabit...I will not be like that.

We have this job. We have this battle for secular society and I am very serious about it. I believe that we are on the correct side o' history and all that shit and that we will and must emerge victorious, but....

We need our sisters fighting on our side to make that shit happen...for all of us.

The Return Of Muscular Christianity

Holy batshit Bat Peeps, here we go again. In the early 90's there was this terrible Christian movement called Promise Keepers. What was there promise...to keep their women down, to be the head of the household and to keep their women barefoot and prego, err, do God's work. Well, it's looks like muscular Christianity is back (le sigh).

Recently at a NASCAR event, during the public prayer no less, a pastor thanked God for his smoking hot wife (probably to the cheers of beer soaked male attendants). A Rev. Ed Young challenged his congregation to have sex every night for a week. Al Mohler chided his youth congregation for the sin of delaying marriage. Seemingly, it's always the Baptist that are so into second classing their women like this.

Ephesians 5: 21 Submit to one another in fear of the Messiah. 22 Wives should submit to their husbands as they do to the Lord; 23 because the husband is head of the wife, just as the Messiah, as head of the Messianic Community, is himself the one who keeps the body safe. 24 Just as the Messianic Community submits to the Messiah, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Because Eve had the misfortune to be created second, and depending on which Genesis account we are talking about-from Adams rib, all her descendants are doomed to be subservient to men. Well, at least that is what the male dominated church wants you to believe. I once asked John Loftus of Debunking Christianity if the Gospel of Mary Magdalene was not included in the first bible because of a power play by the dudes of the day. He said he didn't know and referred me to Bart Erhman (I think I'm correct on this one).

In some circles it is claimed that Mary was the closest disciple of Jesus (and I mean real close, like naked close) and that the 12 dudes were totally jealous. That is why her gospel was not included when Constantine compiled the first bible in 325 A.D., and that is why to this day the men keep trying to testosterone the church.

This is why feminism, education and the liberalization of the church are so important (1). If the ladies are barefoot and prego, then they will not have the opportunity to go to college. If they do not go to college, then the chances of having their own economic power (read control of their own lives) diminishes greatly.

Personally, I wouldn't even want to chill will a subservient woman...even if she was smoking hot.

(1) I'm not an atheist that wants the total destruction of religion. I want it to evolve and move away from literal interpretations of the bible and away from sexism. If a little old lady goes to church every Sunday what the hell do I care, but if the church is like WBC and is keeping the GLBT community and women down, then I care.
