A New Goddess To Debunk

Yea baby.

(I think) The myth is that all atheists hate religion totally and completely. I certainly do not and in actuality I find world religions, myths and folklore very fascinating. When I find a new one, well, then it's on. Recently much has been said about Hugo Chavez, yes that Hugo Chavez, receiving treatment for cancer in Cuba. I believe it was yesterday, or the day before, he was addressing his troops and confidently said something like don't trip boys cause I down with Maria Lionza.

"Soon Chavez’s busts began adorning the altars of Maria Lionza temples in the barrios of Caracas and other major cities, alongside images of the Holy Trinity, the Virgin Mary, the archangel Michael assorted Catholic saints, Viking warriors and other idols nobody else has ever heard of, such as some peculiar figures wearing
top hats and post-Victorian attire."

Mostly practiced in poor, uneducated, crime infested slums Maia Lionza is a combination of Catholic religion, ingeniousness folktales, mystical European and Viking traditions (and some people think religion is divine and not man made). She reigns over savage beasts, rides a tapir (above) and has a throne of turtles and snakes. Legend has it that she was born of an Indian chief and get this, she is voluptuous (awesome).

Can she cure Chavez's cancer, probably not. But I learned something today and that is awesome.
