Stay Away From My Precious Beer

OK.

Now...this is personal. You don't ever fuck with me, and don't you dare pick on my precious and delicious...beer. Beer is my good, good and delicious friend. We have had many "You'll never leave me" type conversations. In fact I'm drinking beer right now...and I'm loving it. So it is no surprise that I get totally pissed when I read articles like this...

I'm hot, but I see how this could benefit some people

"German breweries were ordered by a Berlin state court Monday to stop advertising beer as something good for peoples' looks and health.

In a ruling in favor of a suit by consumer advocacy groups, the court told the German Breweries Association that they cannot advertise the claimed beneficial health effects of their brews.

The court said such claims were not in harmony with European-wide regulations covering nutrition and health aspects of foods and beverages.

The suit was filed to challenge German brewers' various claims that beer promoted good looks and helped to ward off heart, gall bladder, kidney stone and osteoporosis ailments (link)."

Disgusting, just disgusting I tell you. So, I guess, apparently there is some sort of standard in German advertising were the advertisers have to tell the truth, or something. Well, if that is the case I hope that they are being fair all across the board. If the advertising police are going to go after my precious beer, then they better go after anything that is being advertised.

I sure hope that they are not advertising any CAM or sham products in German TV, radio or magazines or whatever. They make bogus health claims and none have anymore success than a placebo. What about wrinkle cream, I always see advertising about that. Only an idiot would think that really works. Let's go down a quick list: penis enlargement, cure for the common cold, any weight loss diet crap, quick workouts that get you fit with little work, brain tutor stuffs, power bracelets, ginseng, etc etc etc


I think my precious beer is more effective than any of those CAM-y things I just mentioned. Beer is a panacea, it is true, effective and "you'll never leave me." For the sake of fairness I sure hope that the German advertising police are coming down on any advertising for any product that does not do what it claims.

It looks to me that beer is pretty effective right now. 

 And don't pick on my precious beer.
