Freethought Day in Sac Town

Dan, it's me Kriss. does your wife have any sisters. Really, bro, hook it up.
As I have said before, I'm a Lone Wolf atheist. Because my environment is already atheist-y, I don't feel the need to play with the other atheists. I'm certainly not against it, esp. if you live in the south, the bible belt, Utah or pretty much anywhere else that is not Nor Cal (and I have also said, if you don't live in Nor Cal, you don't live anywhere. sorry). That being said, there is a groovy atheist-y event happening in super sunny Sac Town.

This Sunday, Rock-tober 23rd, will be the 10th annual Sacramento Freethought Day. My first thought is, "There were nine previous ones?" My second thought, and I haven't said this in a while-because I've been all depression-y and dealing with my own stuffs-is...get out there you wonderful atheists. Sure since the emergence of the Mighty New Atheists, or as I like to call ourselves, Team Atheist, many myths and stereotypes of who and what atheists are have gone down the poo poo tube; and yet, there is still much work to be done.

One of the speakers is Dan Barker and I totally want to meet him (and ask his hottie wife if she has any sisters). One of the myths about atheists and how we become atheists is that we never had true faith (whatever the fuck that is). The myth goes we never understood the mind of God or that we never practiced the true Christianity (which is totally BS). Mr Barker, in case ya don't know, is an ex preacher, minister type. He had a flock at one time and got down with his baddass Christian self and sang xtian songs and played guitar. It is quite audacious for a lay believer (with there stupid head limited and childlike knowledge) to say that a learned person with degrees in divinity, that went to seminary, that answered the call, is not and was not a true Christian. (If I go) I'd love to meet Dan and pick his brain a 'lil bit.

There is a whole list of speakers like the guy that always sues the government for the Christian pledge of allegiance, Michael Newdow. And it seems like there can never ever ever be a freethought event in Sac Town without the very funny funny-ness of Keith Jensen. Way too many thingies to mention, I'll just say that it looks like an event worth going to. Whether I go or not, that is a different thingy.

But you, ya I'm talking to you bible belt atheist, not out atheist or nonexistent heaven forbid, lonely atheist...get you arse out there and let's prove them wrong.  Awesome sauce.
